TrekAssistant ("we," "our," or "us") explains here how the TrekAssistant mobile application handles your information. In short: TrekAssistant is a local-first app, and your data stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
All data you enter — including vehicle profiles, maintenance records, expenses, trips, and documents — is stored exclusively on your device. We do not operate servers that collect or store this personal data.
Limited information leaves your device only in these cases:
- Purchase processing. When you buy the app's one-time unlock, the purchase is handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, our in-app purchase management provider. RevenueCat receives transaction information and an anonymous, randomly generated identifier used to recognize your purchase across reinstalls. This identifier is not linked to your name or email. - Approximate location for weather. To show local weather on the home screen, the app requests an approximate location derived from your device's IP address (via ipwho.is) and then retrieves weather for that area (via Open-Meteo). This is used only to display weather and is not stored by us.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or contact information
- We do not use analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs
- We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising
- We do not display ads
- We do not require an account to use the app
3. Data Storage
App data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. Photos and documents you add are stored in the app's private storage directory. This data may be included in your device's standard iCloud or device backup if you have backups enabled — those backups are controlled by Apple and your device settings, not by us.
If you delete the app, the locally stored data is removed from your device.
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple App Store — processes payment for the app purchase. We never receive or store your payment details.
- RevenueCat — manages purchase validation and entitlements, as described in Section 1.
- ipwho.is — provides approximate, IP-based location used only to fetch weather.
- Open-Meteo — provides weather data for your approximate area.
5. Children's Privacy
TrekAssistant is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
